Do I need a visa for Russia?

Yes. Citizens of Austria and the EU absolutely need a visa to enter Russia. We will support you in the entire process, from A to Z.

Which documents do I need for a visa for Russia?

How much does a visa for Russia cost?

The price varies according to the sort of visa and the number of entries. With us, a simple tourist visa costs only EUR 118.- (incl. invitation letter). We are happy to advise you!

I don’t have a passport. Can I still travel?

No. The visa will be inserted in the passport as if it were a sticker. You absolutely need a passport.

How long will the processing of my order take?

The processing time for a tourist visa takes (at the most)10 days after receiving your passport. We can also provide an express visa within 3 days. The invitation letter will take only 2 days.

Ich reise mit dem Auto nach Russland. Muss ich etwas besonderes beachten?

Only to one thing. It is a detail, but it is important! When you complete the electronic visa application form you have to indicate “auto tourism” as the goal of your trip (and not “tourism”). This will insure an easy entry. When you have any doubts you can always call us.

What is a transit visa?

A transit visa is valid up to 72 hours. You do not need an invitation for this, but you do need the visa (and the airplane tickets) for the country of your final destination. We are happy to help you with a transit visa to Russia. Please note that you do not need a transit visa when flying transit through Russia if you do not leave the airport. Exceptions are Belarus and Kazakhstan, for which a transit visa is absolutely necessary!

Do I need airplane tickets or hotel reservations to obtain a visa?

No. Airplane tickets and hotels can be booked independently from the visa. Obviously the flight dates have to fall within the period in which your visa is valid.

What is an invitation letter and do I need it?

In order to obtain a visa for Russia you really need a so-called invitation letter. The official tourist invitation consists of two parts: the so-called “confirmation” and a “voucher”. Only a Russian tourist company can issue the invitation, if it is registered in the federal tourist association and possesses a special reference number. Please note that a hotel reservation is NOT sufficient. You can purchase the invitation letter from us for EUR 29.-.

I already have an invitation. Can you only go the embassy in Vienna for me?

Of course! Just include the invitation with the other documents. The trip to the embassy costs only EUR 36.- plus consular and VHS fees.

Do the dates of my trip have to correspond with those of my visa?

No. An example: your visa is valid from 15.11 – 25.11. You can arrive in Russia on the 17h and depart on the 23th without any problem whatsoever. It is important that you do not leave after the 25th!

I live in Austria, but I am not an Austrian. What can I do?

If you are not an Austrian you need to include a current registration certificate with the other documents in order to request a visa for Russia.

Why are there differences between the prices for EU citizens and those for citizens outside the EU?

The EU (including Austria) has reached an agreement with Russia for facilitated issuance of visas. The price differences originate from the Russian consulate. Our fee is the same for everybody.

What should I do after receiving my visa?

Control all the information. Please contact us right away if your visa contains any sort of error. We will correct everything. ALM Consulting Services GmbH does not assume any liability if the entry is refused as a result of your negligence.

Do I have to register after arriving in Russia?

Only if you stay longer than 7 days in the country. You can register in several ways. Hotel guests can register at the reception; for independent travellers the easiest way to register is by going to the post office. In case of a registration by mail you have to submit a copy of your passport, a copy of the visa and migration card, and the address and phone number of the place where you stay. Important: respect the deadline of 7 days! Otherwise it becomes a complicated and expensive affair. On request (and for EUR 30.- extra) we can take care of the registration.

I am on a cruise and I will be for 2-3 days in St. Petersburg. Do I need a visa for this and if so, for how many entries?

You do not need a visa if you are only taking part in excursions in guided groups. You do need a visa if you want to move around by yourself. One entry is enough, even when you leave the ship several times.

I would like to study in Russia. What do I have to do?

Beside the documents needed for a tourist visa, you also need an original invitation of the school or university. That sounds complicated, but don’t worry. Contact us and we take care of everything.
